Getting an Amazon.com account

That's easy. First, make sure to get to the "ADAPA on the Cloud - Sign Up" page on our website. In this page, once you click the URL for subscribing to ADAPA on the Cloud, you are directed to Amazon.com.

If you already have an Amazon account, feel free to use it. Yes, this can be the same account you use to buy books. If not, create an Amazon account by selecting "I am a new customer" and clicking on "Sign in using our secure server." Once you provide your name, e-mail and password, or if you use an existing Amazon account, next is the prompt to subscribe to the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) service. The next few pages will walk you through that process.

Once you sign in, you're faced with a welcoming page from Amazon containing information about Amazon EC2 and Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). Go to the bottom of the page and click on "Sign Up for Amazon EC2".

Once you do that, you're shown a sign up form from Amazon.

This form asks for you contact information. Note that some of the fields in the form are required fields. The page also displays the Amazon Web Services (AWS) customer agreement. Please, read it. Once you are ready to continue, check the box indicating that you have read and agree to the terms of the AWS customer agreement. After entering the correct captcha to verify that you are actually a person, click on "Continue".

It's now time for you to enter your credit card information (at the bottom of the page). Remember, you are only charged if you actually launch an ADAPA instance on the cloud and only for the time it is running. Once you are done entering your credit card information, click on "Continue" to enter your billing address. Click once again on “Continue” for identity verification via the telephone. This process takes only a couple of minutes and consists of you receiving an automatic call from Amazon and entering the PIN number displayed on the screen. Once your identity has been verified, click once again on "Continue" to review EC2 selections. Click on "Complete Sign Up" to actually complete your sign up process for Amazon Cloud services.

Subscribing to ADAPA on the Cloud.

It is now time to actually subscribe to ADAPA on the Cloud. Review the ADAPA pricing information. It contains a table showing the price you will pay for the different instance types (virtual machines running ADAPA) per hour. Once you're ready to place your order with Amazon for ADAPA on the Cloud, click on "Place your order".

You are now eligible to use ADAPA on the Cloud as a service. Remember, you're only charged for computing time you actually use. This occurs only when an ADAPA instance is actually running.

Note that the header shows an activation code. You do not need this code to run ADAPA. Underneath this header, find the ADAPA Control Center.

You're now good to go (given that you have your access identifiers). You now close the header by clicking on the "close" icon on the top right corner.

For information on how to manage your subscription (Amazon EC2 and ADAPA on the Cloud), find access identifiers and use the ADAPA Control Center, please check our support blogs.
